WSDOT CONTAMINATED SOIL REMOVAL

The project involved exporting 62,899 tons of arsenic and lead contaminated soil within the short fish window during the summer of 2024. We then imported and placed 2,402 tons of impermeable clay liner to ensure a long-lasting barrier across the site. Due to the adjacent Hylebos Creek, the site underwent large scale dewatering throughout excavation activites and monitoring wells were installed to track ground water levels throughout the project. Along with the dewatering process, contaminated ground and surface water was captured, stored, treated and sampled prior to releasing downstream at the DOE approved dicharge loaction.
